Escaping pain

Over the course of our lifetime we are likely going to go through different situations that provoke in us happiness, joy, sorrow, sadness and, hopefully not so often, pain.

Recovering from a situation that has caused an extraordinary impact in our private and professional lives can take an enormous toll on daily life and our physical and emotional health.

There are some situations that are certainly not for the faint hearted and even then overcoming them requires an enormous amount of energy and time but above all strength. Specially if one wasn’t prepared at all for the events that produced that agonizing pain. That pain which consumes every waking hour of one’s life and eats even into the hours of sleep, by producing unpleasant dreams and at times even nightmares.

Not being able to get a good night sleep brings exhaustion which in turn brings it’s own consequences.

It iis to be expected that one would want to escape the pain, but unfortunately there is no escape from it. The only way is to deal with it head on, find a resolution to the situation or find a way to move forward in life having worked one’s way through that pain.

But what if there is no resolution? What if there is no closure, no solution, no escape? What then? Run away? Stay? Try to keep going on like if nothing had happened? Start again somehow?

Feeling that pain is a reminder that we are good people, that we care, that we love. A person who doesn’t care or who doesn’t truly love, doesn’t feel that deep and agonizing pain.

What about those that laugh, mock or do not take seriously the pain another feels? My guess is that they have no understanding of what emotional pain is but above all that they do not know true unconditional love.

What about those that were the cause of that pain but say “I did nothing wrong, I have no part to play in your suffering, it has nothing to do with me”?

Well, all I can say is that sadly some people only understand and learn compassion when they experience those circumstances themselves in their own lives, but causing that to happen is not up to us.

For us it is left to find the strength to overcome the situation and rise again, like the Phoenix.

Whatever happens, my wish today is for all of us to be filled with strength and rise up like the Phoenix!!!

However long it takes, you go on and be like the Phoenix! Happy Friday everyone!

Much llove to you all,

Beatriz
